BOOKS

-by Bindeswar Saha

Books and Books-
Piles of tons, tons of piles
Spread all around.
Not a place for them to seek
Not even a bench to have them peak
Glee empire of golden treasure
Gives, who reads, immense pleasure.
Fragile and torn
The days of books are gone!
Man makes them
They make another man
Alas! The gift of folklore
Glows amidst the louring coal
Caught up in book cage
Worms teem over their knowledge
Not a mere accompaniment
When the want fades-
Thrown into the rusty shades
Fed to rampant flames!
Erased are those days of voracity
Where lanes had panes
Of colorful literacy
Children with wings of fantasy
And flooding pens instead
Of dark luminescent screens.
